Dear Fishkill Hoops Families,
This weekend will mark the very first basketball games that we play in over a year since COVID changed the world. I am sure we share the excitement to finally get on the basketball court and playing some games.
Below are some very important notes/reminders regarding your game for this weekend. Please review them all before your assigned game this weekend.
TEAM JERSEYS:
Team jerseys will not be in time for the first game this weekend.
See below to determine what color shirt to wear to your game this weekend.

COACHES:
This program does not exist without our volunteer coaches to take the time out of their busy schedules to teach and be with the kids on the sidelines. We truly appreciate and thank all of the coaches for helping us to make this program happen.
A LITTLE RUSTY:
It has been over a year since we’ve operated the scoreboard, recorded in a scorebook, facilitated a game, etc. Just like the players who haven’t played in over a year. . .We may be a little rusty. We had multiple discussions, meetings, and trainings with our Rec Team in the last two weeks so that we can be best prepared and organized to take on the new COVID procedures and re-learn how to do everything again. We have a game plan in place that we think will allow us to maintain compliance to all the regulations while still keeping the games flowing throughout the day. Please help us to do this by doing your part and bear with us as we work out any kinks.
NEW SCOREBOARDS:
We are excited to announce that we had brand new scoreboards installed in the gymnasium earlier this year. We are very excited to show them off. Please bear with us as it will be our first time using them in a real game.
CONCLUSION:
Lastly, we want to thank you all for your continued support over the years and especially during these difficult times. We are looking forward to having some form of normalcy and get our athletes back on the court and playing again. We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Good Luck and Have Fun!

SPECTATORS:
- We are required to operate under limited capacity due to COVID.
- We are only allowed two (2) spectators per player.
- We understand this poses difficulty for some people but we are doing our best to offer a place to play while still maintaining compliance. Please help us by heeding to this policy.
MASKS:
- Please remember that everyone (Athletes, coaches, & players) must wear a mask at all times.
- Even while playing.
ARRIVAL TIME:
- Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your scheduled game.
- We want to ensure that the previous game has ended and has time to clear out before we allow the next group of athletes/spectators in.
SCHEDULE:
- There has been some updates to the schedule since the original posting. It does not effect all teams.
- Please review the schedule to ensure you arrive for the correct game.
- You can view/print the schedule at VIEW/PRINT SCHEDULE.
PURPOSE & GAME RULES:
- The purpose of the program is to have fun and to play basketball. We understand that everyone likes to win. Although we want everyone to compete and do their best, we do not want to lose track of the main reason we are there. To have fun. Please help us by maintaining good sportsmanship, abiding by rules, and encouraging your child to do so as well.
- Some basic game rules that we will follow this season are listed below.
- We won’t be keeping win/loss records since we are not having any playoffs.
- Games will be played with four 10 minute quarters with a running clock. (This means that the clock does not stop on dead balls or foul shots.)
- The clock will stop in the last two (2) minutes of the 2nd and 4th quarters, during time outs, in between quarters, and whenever a referee or Scorekeeper deems necessary for whatever (ie. injury, discrepancy with score, etc) reason.
- Each team will be allowed three (3) time outs per game.
- We will not play any overtime periods at this time. As mentioned earlier, we want to ensure that we have enough time to clear out of the gym before the next group comes in. We have a lot of extra prep/setup to before each game that we didn’t have before.
OTHER:
- Please remember to wear sneakers, your assigned shirt color above, and comfortable gym shorts or pants.
- Bring a labelled water bottle to keep with you on the bench. We are not allowed to use the water fountains but we can use the refill station I the lobby.
- DO NOT BRING A BASKETBALL.
Please keep in mind that the policies and procedures outlined in this email are the rules that we are starting with and we may need to adjust them accordingly as we learn what works and doesn’t work within the restrictions that COVID has put us in. . . - Please review the entire list of our COVID Protocols if you haven't already before your first game.
