- Objective: Learn about different fruits and vegetables.
- Story Time:"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle.
- Tasting Activity: Taste test different fruits and vegetables, discussing flavors and textures.
- Hands-on Activity: Children help wash and cut (with child-safe utensils) fruits and veggies; They'll assemble their own "caterpillars" on skewers or toothpicks.
- Take-Home Craft: Follow the life-cycle of the caterpillar do-a-dot activity.
October 2- CANCELLED
- Objective: Understand the importance of grains in our diet.
- Story Time: "The Little Red Hen"
- Cooking Activity: Make Your Own No-Yeast Quick Bread Rolls
- Hands-on Activity: Using cooked samples of grains, we'll discuss the flavors and textures with the children, emphasizing how different grains can be used to make bread and other foods.
- Take-Home Craft: The Little Red Hen Rhyming Game with game mat.
November 5
- Objective: develop fine motor skills and creativity through hands-on cooking and crafting experiences.
- Story Time:"Max and Ruby: Bunny Cakes" by Rosemary Wells
- Cooking Activity: Decorate mini cupcakes or cookies. This activity emphasizes creativity, fine motor skills, and sensory exploration.
- Tasting Activity: Enjoy the decorated cupcakes or cookies together.
- Take-Home Craft: Make a “Bunny Cake” paper craft.
December 4
- Objective: Encourage Creative Thinking with Food
- Story Time: "I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato" by Lauren Child
- Cooking Activity: Make “Mini Funny Face Veggie Pizzas”
- Tasting Activity: Taste the mini pizzas and discuss the different flavors and textures they experience.
- Take-Home Craft: Create a “Pizza Placemat”
