About the position
Responsibilities: Working for The Artist's Corner provides education majors with experience teaching small classes. We cap our classes at 10 students and while the instructor is given a curriculum, we encourage them to put their own spin on the projects, encouraging their students to do the same. No one knows the students better than those who teach them!
For Kids Classes:
Most importantly, we are looking for an instructor who is patient, good with kids, and wants to build experience working with them. The ideal candidate would be creative (art majors not required) and want to inspire creativity in their students. They must have their own, reliable, transportation.
The ideal candidate would also be pursuing, or have obtained, a NYS teaching certification, or have previous experience working with kids.
For Adult Classes:
The ideal candidate would have significant art experience, be it professionally or self-taught, and be comfortable guiding and encouraging novice and moderately experienced participants to explore their creativity.
The position would be for 1-2 classes per week (one hour each). Instructors are given a full curriculum and all supplies. Opportunities to develop their own curriculum is available if desired.
When commissioned for birthday parties, Girl Scout troop events, etc. any instructor who helps bring in a party gets first rights on teaching the event. These events are commission based.
Instructor will also be encouraged to take photos of their classes and events for our social media pages.
