Intro to Basketball

for 1st and 2nd graders

Fishkill Residency not required.

DESCRIPTION: We will meet on Saturday mornings (time TBA based on registration).  Each session will begin with fun activities and instruction that incorporate the fundamental skills and rules of basketball.  Each session will end with a game to "show off" their skills!

GOAL: The #1 Goal is to HAVE FUN!!! Players will develop a basic understanding of the rules and fundamental skills of the game.  Games will be adapted to promote proper learning and form.  The concepts of teamwork and sportsmanship will be stressed.

SCHEDULE: Sessions will be on Saturday mornings, tentatively starting in November.  Schedule to be posted shortly.

FEE: REGISTERATION FORM

$75 per player.

$10 Late Registration Fee charged after October 18th

Includes 10 sessions, a team shirt, and a trophy.

Winter Hoops

for 3rd through 8th Graders 

Fishkill Residency not required.

GOAL: The # 1 Goal is to HAVE FUN while providing instruction to the rules and fundamentals of the game.  The concepts of teamwork and sportsmanship are stressed throughout the season as it is an important part of sports as well as growing up and everyday life.

SEASON: Tentatively scheduled to start November and will run to about the second week in March.

PRACTICES: Tentatively scheduled for Tuesday or Thursday nights (anywhere from 5:00 - 8:00)

GAMES: Will be scheduled for Saturdays (Anywhere from 8:00 Am to 6:00 PM)

EARLY REGISTRATION: Those registered in this past year's (2009) Summer Hoops or Winter Hoops season may begin registration as of Monday August 10th.

OPEN REGISTRATION: As of Monday September 7th, we will open registration and begin advertising to everyone.  Space is limited and a waiting list will be started once we have reached our maximum number of registrants.  Unfortunately we have had to turn players away in the past so please register early.

Age appropriate divisions will be determined based on registration numbers.

FEE: REGISTERATION FORM

$90 per player.

Includes 10 games, 10-15 practices, a team shirt, and a trophy.

High School Division

FOR 9TH THROUGH 12 GRADE

Fishkill Residency not required.

DESCRIPTION: This division offers high school boys and girls a chance to meet up each week and play.  Depending on registration numbers, players will be split into teams and play each other on a rotating schedule.  Games are tentatively scheduled for Saturday afternoons/evenings.  Possibly on Sundays.  Exact dates TBA. 

A minimum of 20 players is needed to run this age group.

Girls Pre Season Basketball Clinics

Girls 4^th-7^th Grade

FOR:

Girls 4^th-7^th Grade.  It is not mandatory to be signed up for the Winter Hoops program so tell your friends.

DESCRIPTION:

To provide instruction and fundamental skill building while providing an introduction and preparation for our Winter Hoops program.

SCHEDULE:

FEE:           $30 per player includes all 5 days, instruction, and scrimmages

WE NEED A MINIMUM OF 10 PLAYERS TO RUN THE PROGRAM.

HOW TO REGISTER: 

Please RSVP as soon as possible so that we may begin to prepare the program.

2.     Mail or bring payment made out to “Town of Fishkill” to the Recreation Center.

We prefer payment prior to the first day, but we will also accept them on the first night.  Please make sure you email Jay to let him know to expect your daughter.

Weather Cancellation Policy

• Although we may have a similar schedule, we do not always operate on the school schedule. 

• WE DO NOT EXPECT PARENTS TO DRIVE IN CONDITIONS THEY ARE NOT COMFORTABLE IN.  PLEASE USE YOUR BEST JUDGMENT WHEN DECIDING TO COME TO PRACTICE/GAME WHETHER THERE IS A CANCELLATION OR NOT. Often times we may stay open just to give people the option to be there.  Practice/games are by no means mandatory.

• In the event that practice or a game is cancelled due to inclement weather, Our Official Policy will be to post a message on the Recreation line (listed above) indicating so. 

• Keep in mind you may call the line with no cancellation message and then 5 minutes later a cancellation is made.  Weather is unpredictable.  Our advise is to make sure you listen to the message 1 more time prior to leaving your house for practice/game.

• We will also attempt to email everyone and post a message on the website but in case we are not able to do so, we will always post the message on the Rec line.
