YOUTH WINTER BASKETBALL

Fishkill Recreation has started a Youth Winter Basketball League for boys and girls in the 4^th , 5^th and 6^thgrade. Registration begins in September and the program runs from October - March.

GOAL: The # 1 Goal is to HAVE FUN while providing instruction to the rules and fundamentals of the game. The concepts of teamwork and sportsmanship are stressed throughout the season as it is an important part of sports as well as growing up and everyday life.

PRACTICES: Practices are held at Fishkill Elementary School on Tuesday nights. Teams are scheduled for either 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm practice.

GAMES: Games are played at Brinckerhoff Elementary School on Saturday mornings. Games are scheduled for 8:45 am and 10:00 am.

The main goal of the program is to HAVE FUN and promote SPORTSMANSHIP. We do not keep a record of wins and losses.

COACHES/TEAMS: A group of coaches is established through parent volunteers and they are assigned to teams.

4 teams are made up as evenly matched as possible. We use the first 3 practices to evaluate player's experience and skill levels.
