Fishkill Summer Hoops- League Rules

Please review with all coaches and players.

1) All players should participate in every game, but when and how much

is at the coaches discretion.

2) We will use the basic high school rules, except as indicated below:

a) 10 minutes after the scheduled start of the game shall be consid-

ered the forfeit time. Upon agreement of both coaches and the

league director, a game may be played using other players from

the league. At no time may a non-league player participate.

Any replacement players added to the original roster must be

reported to and approved by the league director.

b) Games will consist of four 8 minute quarters, with the clock running

the first 6 minutes of each quarter.

c) If there is a tie after regulation, there will be 2 minute overtimes

until a winner is determined.

d) After a player’s 5th personal foul, he may remain in the game, but

any further fouls will be penalized by a 2-shot technical and by loss

of possession. This applies only if the team cannot put 5 players

on the court.

e) If a player receives a technical for unsportsmanlike conduct, he

will be ejected from the game. If this leaves a team with less than

5 players, he will be allowed to continue, but will be suspended

for his teams next game. Additional technicals during the season

will result in the players being expelled from the league. Excessive

foul language can be considered unsportsmanlike conduct.

f) Games may be started with only four players. Both coaches and the

league director must agree. This will not apply to playoff games.

3) Bench coaches are expected to set an example for their teams and their

fans by displaying proper decorum and respect for the officials.

4) Any questions regarding the playoffs will be the sole decision of the league

director. This includes makeups, date changes, teams involved, etc. Playoffs

may be cancelled to make up excessive rainouts from the regular season.

5) In the case of any disagreements or disputes, if any player appeal is

made, or if there is a problem involving rule interpretations,

REMEMBER: This is a summer recreational league in which many people volunteer

their time and effort. Obnoxious, loud, obscene, and disruptive

behavior by player, coach, fan, or parent will not be tolerated.

Please notify your coach if you are not coming to a game. Forfeits ruin the

night for everyone, so please show up !

Coaches will try to call teams if the weather is a problem, but don’t assume

the game is off unless it is obvious.
